Connecting with the ʻāina using community, creativity, and curiosity

The Hawaiʻi Nature Journal Club is a supportive community of nature lovers building understanding and caring for our islands with creativity, education, and joy.

Nature Journaling is the creative practice of recording thoughts and observations of the natural world using a combination of words, pictures and numbers.

Join us as we blend art, writing, mindful observation, and science to develop a deeper connection with the unique natural and cultural heritage of our islands. We welcome people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

Through meet-ups, workshops, and shared journaling experiences, we observe, care for, and document the incredible biodiversity of Hawaiʻi. These events are opportunities to build community, expand our nature journaling skills, and deepen our relationship with nature.

We seek to inspire action to mālama (protect, care for) this special place we call home.

Hawaii’s ecosystems are unique, and we believe teachers, parents, and learners of all ages deserve nature education that reflects the life and culture of our islands. That’s why we work to develop and share lesson plans and tools that are tailored to understanding and sharing what makes Hawaii, Hawaii.
