Books to Introduce Nature Journaling to Kids and Tweens

There’s many wonderful books that have been written for this age group that feature historical figures and main characters who are naturalists, journalers, explorers, and scientists. But I’ve been the lookout for books that you can send to a kid in your life who wants to learn nature journaling on their own! I haven’t read any of these myself… yet… but I plan to! They’ve all been recommended by others.

I finally ordered a copy of this classic book on nature journaling, and it’s a treasure trove of ideas and lessons, but it might be a bit intimidating for a child’s first introduction to journaling. It’s a wonderful addition to the library though, and anyone can gain so much by flipping through and trying out one idea at a time.
Julia Rothman’s illustrations and diagrams set a great example for fun, simple ways to document the natural world. She also has books for the ocean, farms, and food!

This book looks like a lot of fun, but the shipping is quite expensive since it’s coming from Australia: https://www.paperbarkwriter.com/product/take-this-book-for-a-walk/
